Best of 50 Nigerian Entrepreneurs (Part 1)

Debuting today is a list of Nigeria's finest. You can add more persons to this inexhaustible list. Kindly leave a short citation to enable others to be familiar with them.

Kindly note that the list is not necessarily in any order.

1. ADEOLA Fola T. M.F.R.
He was the founding Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank plc, a top 5 Nigerian Bank that heralded customer service as the hallmark of banking in Nigeria and is a pace setter in banking innovations. He served on various board membership positions and is currently Chairman, Eterna Oil Nigeria Limited, Fate Foundation, a NGO dedicated to uplifting young and upcoming businesses. The foundation's annual Entrepreneur of the Year award is much respected in business circles. Tayo is noted to have come from an indigent background however he pulled himself up by the bootstraps to excel in the banking industry.

2. ADERINOKUN Tayo M.F.R.
Present Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank plc, he co-founded the bank and legend has it that he thought up the name of the 'bank-to-be' on the Lekki-Ajah expressway, parked and called Tayo (citation at the top). He is a fellow of the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a graduate of Harvard's Executive Programme. Tayo is a very unassuming M.D. who has made Guaranty Trust Bank an international brand. He sits on the board of several companies.

3. OVIA Jim (James) M.F.R.
I happen to have met this enigma one on one once and was really awed by his diminitive but ovewhelming persona. He kept on quippin 'Brilliant....brillant.....' about what he was working on. It then occured at this point in time that successful business people keep a positive mind set about all issues they encounter. Jim sits at the helm of Zenith Bank plc, a lean and mean bank with eyes set on the sights of position as a top 3 Nigerian bank in terms of all major indicators, shareholders value, service and size. He sits on the board of the governing council of Lagos State Univeristy as on many other boards. He is also an avid promoter of information technology platforms.
